When things don’t go your way, you have a choice: You can sit and brood and feel sorry for yourself. Or you can…TRY AGAIN! So when my marriage of eight years ended and my wife moved out, I remember what my mom told me.
The middle part about the lump of coal came later after many, MANY viewings of The Power of Myth, a PBS series in which Bill Moyers extensively interviews Joseph Campbell, the scholar who coined the phrase, “Follow your bliss,” a credo I’ve adopted that really works! Those three simple words sum up everything that myths and the wisdom of the ages instructs: Be true to yourself. Do what you love and you’ll have a LIFE you love. To do otherwise is to commit a symbolic suicidea suicide of the soul.
Hope you find it fun, inspiring. And motivating!
